While getting refreshed exterior and new features, Suzuki XL7 facelift (Maruti XL6) will continue with the existing powertrain options

In Indonesia, Suzuki sells the XL7, which can be described as a rugged crossover MPV version of the XL6 sold in India. Both MPVs are based on the Ertiga, and share the same platform / features, although XL7 is a 7-seater (2+3+2), whereas XL6 is a 6-seater (2+2+2). At the ongoing GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), Suzuki has showcased the XL7 facelift with multiple updates. These updates could be introduced with the XL6 as well in India.

Suzuki XL7 (Maruti XL6 Ertiga) – Exterior updates

Most of the exterior updates for Suzuki XL7 are focused at the front. One of the key revisions is a new larger and bolder grille in a black finish. This ensures a more SUV-like presence for the MPV. The grille also gets new inserts in the top and lower sections. One can also notice a sharper design for the front bumper. The prominent Suzuki logo in a chrome finish has been retained.

Suzuki XL7 facelift gets new C-shaped fog lamp housings. Other parts such as the headlamps, DRLs and the bonnet design have been carried over. Side and rear profiles remains largely unchanged. XL7 has prominent wheel arches, conventional door handles, 16-inch alloy wheels in a black finish, roof rails and a gently sloping roofline. In Indonesia, XL7 facelift gets a new dual-tone colour option – Ice Grayish Blue with Black.

New features

All variants of the XL7 facelift in Indonesia are now equipped with a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In comparison, XL6 in India currently utilizes a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Suzuki XL7 also gets Arkamys audio system, which is already available with Maruti XL6. Cosmetic updates for Suzuki XL7 facelift include new garnishes for the instrument panel and door trims. These work to ensure a more premium aesthetic for the cabin.

Top variants of the XL7 facelift get a 360-degree view monitor and Digital Video Recorder (DVR). These features are already available with the XL6 in India. The updated XL7 will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Cikarang Plant in Indonesia. In addition to the Indonesian domestic market, the updated XL7 will also be exported to multiple overseas locations. XL7 is available in multiple ASEAN countries like Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam.

Same engine

Suzuki XL7 facelift in Indonesia will continue with the fuel-efficient 1.5-litre K15B engine, which also powers the Ertiga. Higher variants of XL7 combine this engine with Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid system. In India, Maruti XL6 uses a 1.5-litre K15C smart hybrid engine. It generates 103 PS and 139 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include 5MT and 6AT.

XL6 CNG variant generates 88 PS and 121.5 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 5MT transmission. XL6 facelift will continue with these powertrain options. Maruti could introduce the XL6 facelift later this year. It could be offered at a slightly higher price. The current model is available in the price range of Rs 11.57 lakh to Rs 14.53 lakh.
