Hero MotoCorp is stepping up its game in the sporty 125cc motorcycle segment. The country’s leading motorcycle manufacturer currently has both sporty, commuter and sporty commuter 125cc offerings and at the top of this food chain is Xtreme 125R. It rivals the likes of TVS Raider 125, Pulsar 125 and Honda CB125 Hornet.
TVS Raider 125 was the first one to launch with a TFT instrument cluster, followed by Honda CB125 Hornet. Bajaj is coming up with their next gen Classic Pulsar 125 with a TFT screen and now, Hero does not want to be left out and will soon launch an update to Xtreme 125R with a TFT instrument cluster and segment’s first TPMS feature.
2026 Hero Xtreme 125R
A TFT instrument cluster is now trending and offering one in the 125cc segment for the masses is a good strategy to set themselves apart. Now that all of the competition has caught up, Hero would have been the only one left behind. Hero currently offers a TFT instrument cluster with Xtreme 160R only and now it is the turn of Xtreme 125R.
Images of the updated Hero Xtreme 125R with TFT screen have surfaced now and it looks like a launch is just around the corner. Currently, Hero offers a 4.2-inch colour LCD display with Xtreme 125R and this new TFT cluster could be offered only with the top-spec variant for a higher price tag, which currently tops out at Rs 1,08,300 (Ex-sh).
Hero Xtreme 125R has a few attributes already present and the company seems to be checking the other boxes in the list. Split seat, dual disc brakes, dual channel ABS, all-LED lighting, ride modes 120-section wide rear tyre, mono-shock suspension, edgy styling and more. Hero has ticked one checkbox that none of its rivals ticked, which is ride-by-wire, TPMS and cruise control.
With the combination of dual-channel ABS, TPMS, cruise-control and TFT screen, Hero Xtreme 125R comes out to be one of the most desirable packages in the segment. Improved switchgear could be there to control the enhanced features and UI of the new TFT instrument cluster. There seems to be only one checkbox left for Hero MotoCorp to tick and it is USD front forks. Currently, only Honda CB125 Hornet offers USD forks.
What to expect?
Other mechanicals will continue as they are, including the engine. This 125cc single cylinder engine is rated at 11.4 bhp at 8250 RPM and 10.5 Nm at 6500 RPM, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. RSU telescopic front forks, rear mono-shock, 120-section rear tyre, all-LED lighting and other attributes will continue.
In terms of pricing, there could be a new top-spec variant with TFT screen and TPMS, which will command a higher price tag. Currently, Hero Xtreme 125R starts from Rs 91,500 and goes till Rs 1,08,300 (Ex-sh). We wish these features make it to other Hero products like Xtreme 250R, Xpulse 210 and Xoom 160.
