Costing $4,995 (Rs 4.78 lakh), Jeep’s JL-2A package for the Wrangler focuses largely on visual enhancements across the exterior and interior
Taking inspiration from the original 1945 Willys CJ-2A, Jeep has launched the new Wrangler JL-2A. This new model is the latest addition to Jeep’s Twelve 4 Twelve series.
The 1945 Willys CJ-2A was the first mass-produced civilian Jeep, adapted from the WWII military Willys MB. It is now mostly seen as a collector’s item. With the JL-2A package for the Wrangler, Jeep has essentially unlocked the 1945 Willys CJ-2A experience, something enthusiasts can access every day.
Jeep Wrangler JL-2A – Exterior details
Two-door versions of Jeep Wrangler JL-2A get a Gobi finish as standard. This matches the Harvest Tan finish seen on the original Willys CJ-2A. Four door versions have colour options of ’41 (Olive Drab Green) and Bright White, Sting Gray, Ghost and Joose.
One of the most striking features of Jeep Wrangler JL-2A is its Joose coloured wheels. This closely matches the Sunset Red wheels seen with the original Willys CJ-2A.
These wheels are wrapped in 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 All-Terrain tires. The Joose coloured wheels create an exciting contrast with the lighter Gobi exterior paint. The same effect can be seen with the orange tow hooks used at the front and rear.
In addition to the retro aesthetic, Jeep has also introduced some contemporary flavours with Wrangler JL-2A. These include a Dark Metallic Grey accent for the iconic seven slot grille.
Exclusive interior theme
Inside, the Willys CJ-2A-inspired Wrangler JL-2A offers a refreshing experience with premium materials, unique accents, bold colour combinations and exclusive detailing. Key features include seats wrapped in Nappa Heritage Tan leather.
Also noticeable is the Nappa PUR instrument-panel mid-bolster. Rich Bison Brown leather has been used across the centre console, lower instrument panel and door panels.
Bold Desert Orange accent stitching has been used in the cabin, which is similar to the SUV’s Joose painted wheels. Wrangler JL-2A has an exclusive Willys-Overland satin chrome shifter medallion.
Another connection to Willys is established with the heritage-inspired HVAC vent graphics. These feature the iconic seven-slot grille on one side and a Willys silhouette on the other.
Special detailing has been used such as an exclusive rear swing gate plaque that recreates the original CJ-2A dashboard data plate artwork. It has farm and factory scenes, highlighting CJ-2A’s primary tasks in the World War II era.
Wrangler JL-2A has Convenience Group, which includes features like remote start, auto-dimming rearview mirror and universal garage door opener. Other features include a front TrailCam with integrated washer.
Package cost of 2027 Jeep Wrangler JL-2A is $4,995 (Rs 4.78 lakh). It will be available to order in October. Other than the Willys CJ-2A-inspired touch-ups, there are no other mechanical changes to the SUV.
Powertrain options include a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that generates 285 hp and 352.5 Nm of torque. It is paired with either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission. Off-road features include electronic locking front and rear differentials, electronic sway-bar disconnect and Rock-Trac HD 4×4 system.
