Maruti Suzuki Fronx has achieved another major export milestone, crossing 2 lakh units shipped from India. The milestone has been achieved in less than 38 months since exports commenced, making Fronx the fastest SUV from India to reach 2 lakh exports.
Exports of Fronx commenced in June 2023 and the Made-in-India SUV is currently shipped to nearly 90 countries. Production for domestic as well as export markets takes place at Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur manufacturing facility in Gujarat.
Second Lakh Came In Just 13 Months
The pace at which Fronx has accumulated its second lakh exports is particularly notable. Fronx crossed its first 1 lakh export milestone in less than 25 months. It then took only around 13 additional months to add another lakh units.
This indicates an acceleration in overseas shipments as Maruti Suzuki expands Fronx to more international markets. Japan is among the important export destinations for the model, making Fronx one of the Made-in-India Maruti Suzuki vehicles sold in Suzuki’s home market.
Maruti Suzuki states that Fronx has been India’s highest-exported passenger vehicle since FY2024-25. The compact crossover has emerged as an important contributor to the company’s overall overseas volumes.
Commenting on the milestone, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, said that Fronx reaching its second lakh exports significantly faster highlights growing demand for the model in international markets. He also pointed towards India’s increasing role as a manufacturing and export base for Suzuki vehicles.
Maruti Leads Passenger Vehicle Exports
Fronx’s milestone comes at a time when exports are becoming an increasingly important part of Maruti Suzuki’s overall operations. The company has been India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter for the past five consecutive years.
Maruti Suzuki currently exports 17 models from India to nearly 120 countries. During Q1 FY2026-27, its five leading export models were Fronx, Jimny 5-Door, e Vitara, Dzire and Baleno. The company claims a share of more than 55% of India’s passenger vehicle exports during Q1 FY2026-27. Interestingly, the three highest-exported passenger vehicles from India during the quarter were all Maruti Suzuki models.
India Becoming An Important Suzuki Export Hub
Maruti Suzuki’s growing export volumes also underline India’s expanding role within Suzuki’s global manufacturing operations. Apart from supplying developing markets, India-made vehicles are now reaching mature automotive markets as well. Fronx is a prominent example, especially considering its exports to Japan. Other models, including Jimny 5-Door and e Vitara, are also manufactured in India for multiple overseas markets.
With 2 lakh exports completed in under 38 months, Fronx has now set a new benchmark for SUV exports from India. More significantly, the second lakh being achieved in roughly half the time required for the first lakh suggests that overseas demand and export volumes have gathered considerable momentum.
