Kinetic has just expanded their DX electric scooter lineup to incorporate a new variant with a larger battery. This was one of the criticisms the company received at the launch of DX family scooter to offer more range. Kinetic is addressing it with a new range-topping variant that packs a larger 3.1 kWh battery with the higher-spec DX+ trim.

New Kinetic DX 3.1 kWh Variant

After launching the DX and DX+ in India, Kinetic EV aims to expand its operations from India to global markets. The company is evaluating the prospects of exporting DX scooter to seven nations, manufactured in India. A new variant with larger battery and higher range fits into those aspirations while making a stronger case for India as well.

The top-spec DX+ trim is now offered with a new 3.1 kWh battery variant which sits above the 2.6 kWh battery variant offered since launch. The base DX is exclusively offered with smaller 2.6 kWh battery only. The 3.1 kWh battery variant promises a higher range of 132 km. Smaller 2.6 kWh battery in DX+ maxed out at 105 km.

It has to be noted that this higher range is not just a result of a bigger battery, but a slightly de-tuned motor as well. This motor now generates 3.8 kW of peak power, while Kinetic DX+ 2.6 kWh variant was rated at 4.78 kW peak power. This is a reduction of 1.2 kW in peak power, while gaining 27 km in range. The new DX+ 3.1 kWh variant only gets two modes – Range, Power.

Turbo Mode is not available with 3.1 kWh variant which even the base DX 2.6 kWh variant gets. The same colour options as DX+ 2.6 kWh variant are offered with DX+ 3.1 kWh variant – Red, Blue, Black, Grey and White. Features like metal body, LED lighting, 8.8-inch LCD instrument cluster, 37L boot, keyless go with password based ignition, Easy Flip footrests, cruise control, telematics, front disc brake and others are common between both DX+ variants.

Statement from Kinetic EV
