Toyota Kirloskar Motor reported total sales of 32,842 units in August 2026, comprising 28,410 units in the domestic market and 4,432 units in exports. Compared to 34,236 units sold in August 2025, overall sales declined by 1,394 units or 4.07% YoY. Domestic sales were down 3.04%, while exports declined 10.17%.
Toyota India Domestic Sales At 28,410 Units
Toyota sold 28,410 vehicles in the domestic market during August 2026, compared to 29,302 units in August 2025. This represents a decline of 892 units or 3.04%. There was also a sequential decline. Toyota had sold 30,516 units domestically in July 2026, resulting in a 6.90% MoM decline in August. Exports stood at 4,432 units, down from 4,934 units in August 2025, resulting in a 10.17% YoY decline.

Toyota’s current Indian portfolio spans multiple segments with models such as Glanza, Taisor, Rumion, Hyryder, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, Hilux, Fortuner, Camry, Vellfire and Land Cruiser 300. Several of its volume-oriented products are also supplied through the company’s partnership with Maruti Suzuki.
Toyota 2026 Sales Cross 2.66 Lakh Units
Despite the decline in August, Toyota continues to register positive growth on a cumulative basis. Between January and August 2026, the company sold 2,66,696 units, compared to 2,41,733 units during the corresponding period last year. That’s an increase of 24,963 units or 10.33% YoY.

Domestic sales during this period increased 11.18% to 2,44,592 units, compared to 2,19,992 units last year. Exports increased marginally by 1.67% to 22,104 units. Toyota remains positive about demand heading into the upcoming festive season, with the company expecting customer activity to improve during this important sales period.
New Toyota Glanza Expected Ahead Of Festive Season
Toyota’s festive-season push is also expected to include an updated Glanza. The hatchback is based on Maruti Baleno, which is set to receive an update on September 5. Considering the product-sharing arrangement between Maruti Suzuki and Toyota, the corresponding Glanza update is likely to follow.
Toyota Faces New Competition In Hybrid, Premium SUV Space
Toyota’s upcoming festive season will also be interesting because competition is increasing in segments where the company currently has a strong presence. JSW MG recently launched Hector Tomahawk PHEV, bringing plug-in hybrid technology into the premium SUV space.
Interesting timing ?

Soon after the launch, Toyota stepped up communication around its own strong-hybrid technology, including its “India Hai Hybrid, Hybrid Hai Toyota” campaign and messaging highlighting that its hybrids do not require external charging.
Another important challenger arrives on September 4, when Kia launches Sorento in India. Kia has officially confirmed both diesel and hybrid powertrains for the three-row SUV. Depending on pricing and positioning, Sorento could overlap with Toyota products such as Innova Hycross and Fortuner, giving buyers another diesel and electrified option in the premium three-row segment.

Innova Hycross Facelift Testing Begins
Toyota is also working on an update for Innova Hycross. Facelift test vehicles have started appearing on Indian roads, indicating that development is underway. However, the updated Hycross is not expected to launch in 2026. The existing model will therefore continue to handle Toyota’s premium MPV business through the upcoming festive season, even as new competition enters the market. New gen Fortuner is also expected in 2027, while FJ Cruiser is expected in 2029.
This makes the coming months particularly important for Toyota. While cumulative 2026 sales remain up more than 10%, August volumes declined 4.07% YoY. At the same time, new hybrid and premium three-row competitors are entering the market, while Toyota prepares updates to key products in its existing portfolio.
