Hyundai Motor India has announced a three-day free EV charging initiative to mark World EV Day 2026. Hyundai electric vehicle owners can avail complimentary charging from September 9 to September 11, 2026, across HMIL-owned public charging stations. To use the offer, charging sessions have to be accessed through the myHyundai app.
New 120 kW Fast Chargers In Delhi
Alongside the free charging initiative, Hyundai has inaugurated new 120 kW DC fast public charging stations in New Delhi. These chargers have been established in partnership with Statiq and can be accessed through the myHyundai app as well as other major charging-management applications.
Hyundai currently operates 185 DC fast-charging stations across 105 cities in India. Charging capacity across its network ranges from 60 kW to 240 kW. The company plans to significantly expand this network over the coming years, targeting 600 proprietary charging stations by 2030. These will be located across key cities, highways and Hyundai dealerships.
Beyond its own network, Hyundai says the myHyundai app provides access to more than 38,000 charging points through partnerships with multiple Charge Point Operators. The platform supports charger discovery, navigation, advance booking and digital payments and is open to EV users across brands.

Hyundai Preparing Dealerships For EV Expansion
Hyundai is simultaneously increasing EV readiness across its sales and service network. More than 10,000 sales personnel have already received EV-related training. This is targeted to increase to more than 17,000 by the end of FY26-27.
On the aftersales side, Hyundai currently has over 2,600 trained dealership service personnel covering EV-related functions. Another 5,000 service personnel are planned to receive training by the end of FY26-27.
The company aims to expand its EV-ready presence to 820 sales touchpoints and 650 workshops by the end of FY26-27. Workshops are also being equipped with specialised equipment for high-voltage safety, EV diagnostics, battery handling and repairs.

New Mass-Market Hyundai EV Coming
As part of its World EV Day announcement, Hyundai has also reiterated that a localised mass-market electric SUV based on a dedicated EV platform will be introduced soon. This isn’t the first time Hyundai has confirmed plans for the upcoming model, but its mention alongside the charging, sales and service expansion highlights the company’s preparations for a broader EV portfolio.
Hyundai currently sells Creta Electric as its mainstream electric SUV, while Ioniq 5 sits at the premium end of its EV range. The upcoming dedicated-platform SUV is expected to expand Hyundai’s reach further into India’s mass-market EV segment. Launch is expected later this year.
